Personal Philosophy Statement
As a professional school counselor, I believe first and foremost that all students are able to achieve. I believe the role of the school counselor includes advocating for student’s access to a stimulating academic curriculum that promotes equity while also promoting important character education values such as respect, fairness, and civic responsibility. I wish to collaborate with students to assess their individual academic, behavioral, and attendance needs while emboldening the notion that they have it within them to become well-rounded contributors to society.
I am passionate about collaborating with all students, parents, administration, and all other key stakeholders to foster a cohesive school climate and transform today’s students into the leaders of tomorrow. I believe that advocating for our students and their families is another important role for every school counselor. I offer a unique passion for working with a wide variety of students with an array of needs, and I am enthusiastic about applying this passion to my work as a school counselor.
Due to my extensive training in ASCA National Model standards for school counselors, I feel as though I am able to deliver a results-driven comprehensive school counseling program that will serve the unique academic, social/emotional, and college/career readiness needs of my students. I believe that my drive, enthusiasm, and compassion are important aspects of being a school counselor, and I am deeply committed to working with all students to create a value-emphasized school community that is a safe haven for all students who enter our doors.
